Startup Institute #GiveHack Bringing Laptops to Children All Over the World

one laptop per child

Instead of joining in the many Boston bar crawls, this past Saturday Startup Institute students participated in a #GiveHack.

The goal?  Raise money for One Laptop Per Child. Teams spent two hours brainstorming innovative fundraising methods to engage the local community in a campaign for this noble cause.  One Laptop Per Child, a Boston-based organization, provides each child with a rugged, low-cost, low-power connected laptop (called XO).  The laptops provide children with a tool to network with their neighbors and learn through exploration and games.

Using the experiences students have gained through Startup Institute such as marketing outreach, best sales processes, and connections throughout Boston, teams enjoyed the opportunity to put their newly developed skills to support a good cause. Technology empowering local communities, a cause we can all get behind.
